District Chophouse Happy Hour & The Drunken Selfie (vs Hawks)

Our next happy hour took place before the Wizards suffered a tough loss to the Atlanta Hawks. We met at the District Chophouse, a very nice restaurant with some great food and drink specials. A lot of people didn't have to work the next day so the turnout was unexpectedly high and we may have gone a little overboard on the fun culminating in a group selfie that took about 8 minutes and 5 attempts to get right (Photos).

The Chophouse is only a block away from Verizon and may intimidate happy hour goers due to the fact that it is a very nice steak house. However, you'd be surprised how awesome their happy hour is. They brew their own beer at the Chophouse and during HH you can get drafts for just $3.25 each. Other drink specials include $5 house wines, and $6 rail and specialty drinks.

Many Wiz Happy Hour participants were enjoying the IPA on this particular night. The Chophouse did just brew their Senator Dopplebock which is amazing, but that beer wasn't on special so the squeakers at happy hour went with something that was $3.25.

Drinks weren't the only things on special. At this particular happy hour the food items were flying all over the place, and at $7 for some gourmet small plates it was no wonder. These items included sliders, meatballs, shrimp, flatbreads, and more. They are truly "small" plates, but man were they good.

While traditionally our happy hours last just an hour several of us arrived quite early, four guys as early as 4pm. I don't think it would be an overstatement to say that some people were "feeling it" by the time the game rolled around. This is when, before we went into the game, we attempted to take a group photo without the help of a cameraperson, aka a selfie. While it was not easy for 10+ drinking people to cram together into frame, we ended up pulling it off (after a lot of arguing, mocking, and yelling).

After the happy hour many of us left our assigned seats and met in an empty section in the upper deck so we could hang out and have some more fun. This was a surprisingly great happy hour and we made a lot of new friends!  Join us sometime and become our friend too. See you out there & Go Wiz!
